Smartphone users may encounter issues with trying to update or download an update on their phones. This can be very frustrating especially if it persists for long periods. If you want to learn how to manually update apps on google play, follow these steps. Open the Google Play Store App, and at the top right corner, click on the profile icon. Select Manage apps & devices. You will see a list of apps with information on if an update is required. Apps that require updates are labelled Update Available. Tap to Update.
To update all apps automatically, when you open the Google play store app, at the top right of the screen, tap on the profile icon. Click Settings then select Network Preferences and then Auto-update apps. Next, you have to select an option for any network to update apps using Wi-Fi or mobile data or only Wi-Fi to update apps when connected to Wi-Fi. When Google Play won’t update apps, it is a very common issue on Android 10. It usually happens when you have just updated to this version. If you are experiencing trouble with updating your apps, follow the steps below to troubleshoot manually.
Step 1: Check that you are connected to the internet.

If the speed is low or there is a connectivity problem, try to solve it by connecting to a good network, preferably Wifi. Sometimes, using a VPN might be the source of the problem. If you have a VPN enabled, make sure it is disabled and then try to update your apps again.
Step 2: Check that you have enough storage on your Phone.
Not having enough storage on your phone might be another reason why none of your apps will update. If your Android does not have sufficient free storage, you will not be able to update your apps or download new apps on your phone. To check the storage on your device, go to Settings and then click Storage. Once opened you will see a detailed storage distribution. You will also see the amount of free storage available and how much has been occupied. Note that you must have at least 10% of free storage on your phone for it to function properly. Step 3: Clear up Cache and Data and Force Stop Google PlayStore.
Clearing cache and data can be useful for solving many issues related to downloading apps and updates on Android 10 and other versions. You must first Force Stop before clearing all cache and data. To do this, open Settings on your phone, locate the All Apps section. Scroll down to find Google PlayStore and then tap on it. On the App Info page for Google Play Store, click on the Force Stop button on the right of the pane. Once this is done, then click on Storage & cache. It takes you to a page where you can now delete all data and cache. Select Delete storage and then open Play Store and try to update your apps again.
Step 4: Delete Google Play Services and other services.
Google Play Store depends on a lot of other services to function properly. For example, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework and Download Manager. If you have issues with updating your apps on Android, you can also clear cache and data for these services and check that Download Manager is enabled on your phone. To clear cache and data for Google Play Services, Google Services Framework and Download Manager, follow these steps.
To clear the cache and data on Google Play Services, on your phone, open the Settings app. Tap on Apps & Notifications then select See all apps. Scroll down to Google Play Services and tap on it. Tap Storage and then tap Clear Cache. Next, select Manage Space and then Clear all data. Go back to the google play store and then wait for 5 minutes before trying your download or update again.
To clear the cache and data on Google Services Framework, once again open Settings, select Apps & Notifications and select App Info or See all apps. Open Google Services Framework and then click on Storage or Storage and Cache, then tap on Clear cache. Tap on Clear Storage and then Clear all the data and select OK. Reopen the Play Store and try again.
To clear cache and data on the Download Manager, open Settings, click on Apps & Notifications. Click on All apps and then scroll down to find Download Manager. Click on it and then select Storage. Then tap Clear data to clear the cache and data. After doing all these, restart your phone then try again to update your apps.
Step 5: Uninstall and Reinstallation of Play Store Updates.
If you have just recently updated Play Store, this could be a reason why none of your apps is updating. Uninstall the Play Store update you recently installed and then reinstall it again. Follow these steps to do so. Open Settings, on your phone and select All apps, now search for Google Play Store and tap on it. You will notice three dots at the top right corner of the screen, click on it and then select Uninstall Updates. Then click OK.
Any bugs and issues in that update will be removed and your Play Store will be automatically updated later.
Step 6: Remove your Google Account.
It is possible that there could be some issues with your account that is preventing you from updating or downloading your phone. The solution here is to remove your Google account from your phone and then add it again. To do this, open Settings, scroll down to find Accounts and tap on it, select Google and remove your account. Restart your phone and add your account back again.
Step 7: Brand new phone? Just give it time.
If you have gifted yourself a new phone and you are trying to set it up after performing a factory reset, you will most likely see ‘pending download’ on the Play store for everything that you try to download. The reason this is happening is that your Google Account is syncing. Or, it is downloading the apps linked with your account. Give it some time for the sync or downloads to finish and then you can try again. If this has taken too much time then disable the account in data sync in Settings and after a few minutes enable it again. To do this, go to Settings, choose Accounts and backup, which may appear as Accounts & Sync, Data Synchronization or Cloud and Account. Then tap on Accounts or the Google account name near the logo. Select Sync Account from the list and then toggle the switch off for everything on the list. Enable it again after a few minutes and try again.
